Who Requires a Study Permit ?
Everyone who intends to enter Canada to take an academic, professional or vocational training course must apply for a study permit.
However ,anyone who is enrolled in any program of study that is 6 months or less does not require a Study Permit.
Short-term Course
If you are planning to attend a course of six months or less, you will require a Temporary Resident Visa only. Please see section Temporary Resident Visa Requirements.
Please bring with you to Canada the letter of acceptance issued by the educational institution in Canada where you will be studying for examination by immigration officials when you arrive at a Canadian port of entry.
After the completion of the short-term course, you are not allowed to continue to attend another school in Canada and must leave Canada. If you are considering continuing your studies in Canada after your short-term course finishes, we strongly urge you to apply for a Study Permit before arriving in Canada.
