TAIPEI – SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS
PROCESSING STEPS
When applying for a study permit it is very important to follow the four steps in the application process:
FIRST STEP: Submit Copy of your Passport Biodata Page in person at our office (address below). At this time we will issue medical instructions to you.You will be given a student file number. You should take note of this number and write it on all documents you submit as part of your application.

THIRD STEP: Submit complete application (within three months of date medical exam forms were picked up) to the
Visa Section of Canadian Trade Office in Taipei
Effective Monday November 05 2007 until Friday March 28 2008, the VISA section of the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei will change to Winter hours. Please note the following changes:
You may submit applications: Monday to Thursday 08:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
Effective Tuesday April 01, 2008, submit visa application:
From 08:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m., Monday to Friday
Remember to include your student file number on the Application forms.
The complete application consists of:

(1)Application forms Print a copy of the Application for a Study Permit Made Outside of Canada (IMM1294) found here and
(2)The Family Composition Form (IMM1294 sup) found here and complete the application forms. |
| b) |
Proof of acceptance The original and a photocopy of the letter of acceptance from the educational institution. |
| c) |
Non-refundable processing fee. Click here for details. |
| d) |
Financial support: Evidence that you can support yourself while you study in Canada. Such evidence may include: bank statements in Taiwan or Canada in your name or the name of your parents, proof of payment of tuition and residence fees, proof of scholarship. |
| e) |
Passport: Your passport and a completed return slip for Taiwan Post's SpeedPost. |
| f) |
Minor Students: If you are under 18 years of age and you plan to study in Canada, you require a notarized statement by your parents appointing a Canadian citizen or a Canadian permanent resident to act as your custodian and a notarized statement by the Canadian citizen or Canadian permanent resident who will act as your custodian. If the signatures of both parents are not available, you must provide a written explanation including documentation from the Courts if the parents are divorced or separated.
FOURTH STEP: Permit and Passport will be sent directly to applicant using Taiwan Post's SpeedPost. If your passport is not on file with your application, you will be requested by mail or e-mail to submit your passport by SpeedPost. Your passport will be returned to you using Taiwan Post's SpeedPost. You are responsible for all costs for the use of Taiwan Post's SpeedPost. Please note SpeedPost service is restricted to use within Taiwan’s territory.
