Who May Represent You?

The new regulations implemented April 13, 2004 state that paid representatives must be authorized:

  • in order to conduct business on behalf of clients when dealing with the Government of Canada in immigration and refugee matters

Authorized, paid representatives may only be:

Remember you are not obliged to hire a representative for immigration and refugee matters. The Government of Canada treats everyone equally, whether they use the services of a representative or not.

Once you have completed the application to temporarily work in Canada , it is very important to follow the three steps in the application process:

Effective Monday November 05 2007 until Friday March 28 2008, the VISA section of the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei will change to Winter hours. Please note the following changes:

You may submit applications : Monday to Thursday 08:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

Effective Tuesday April 01, 2008, submit visa application:

08:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Monday to Friday

THIRD:

Permit and Passport will be sent directly to applicant using Taiwan Post's SpeedPost. You will be requested by mail or e-mail to submit your passport by SpeedPost. Your passport will be returned to you using Taiwan Post's SpeedPost. You are responsible for all costs for the use of Taiwan Post's SpeedPost.

Temporary workers

The Visa Section of the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei cannot provide you with information about job opportunities in Canada .

If you have an offer of employment in Canada this employment may require confirmation by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada before we can process a work permit. When such a confirmation is required, these categories of workers must apply for a work permit.

The following categories of workers require work permits but may not require confirmation of job offer:

participants in exchange programs; research assistants; persons entering Canada temporarily to establish a business; intra-company transferees; media crews; emergency repairmen; post-doctoral fellows.

The following categories of workers do not usually require a work permit:

groups of performing artists coming to Canada to perform for a short duration other than in a pub, nightclub or restaurant, temporary business travellers, guest speakers, domestic workers visiting Canada with their employers for six months or less.
