Canadian Trade Office in Taipei Welcomes Decision to Lift Suspension of Canadian beef

The Canadian Trade Office in Taipei today issued a statement, welcoming the decision by Taiwanese authorities last week to re-open the Taiwanese market to Canadian beef products, effective July 8, 2016.

“The Canadian Trade Office in Taipei, which celebrates its 30th anniversary of operations in Taiwan this year, is delighted to learn that Taiwan has lifted its temporary suspension of Canadian beef,” said Mario Ste-Marie, Executive Director of the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei. “This is a very positive development and will also benefit consumers who will have access to Canada’s high quality, safe, premium meat products.”

Taiwan is Canada’s 12th largest trading partner and fifth largest Asian trading partner. “Canada looks forward to deepening our strong people to people and trading relations with Taiwan, and last week’s decision is a positive development in that regard,” said Mr. Ste-Marie.
