Summary of duties: 

The Term Property and Material Manager is a specialized position whose responsibilities include:

  • planning and administering services related to the procurement and maintenance of the mission's commercial and personal housing properties;

  • planning, administering and maintaining furnishing, equipment and appliances for mission properties;

  • liaising with real estate companies to monitor market trends and negotiate property leases and renewals, and liaising with construction and repair companies to negotiate repair and maintenance contracts;

  • preparing annual estimates and budget input for operation and maintenance; and

  • supervising a team responsible for the purchase, maintenance and repair of all materiel assets.

Position opens to:

    • Individuals residing in Taiwan who are eligible to work in Taiwan, who meet all of the essential requirements stated below, and whose applications are received by the closing date.
    • Note: relocation expenses will not be paid in any circumstance.

Essential requirements:

Candidates must demonstrate clearly in their application how they meet the education and experience requirements listed below:

           a. Education:

  • Completed studies at College or University level.

  • OR, an acceptable combination of education, training and work experience related to the duties and specific areas of competence required by the position

            b. Experience:

  • Relevant working experience in one of those following sectors:

    • project management

    • building and facility maintenance

    • supervising and managing a team

  • Experience in managing a budget

  • Experience in providing direct client services

 

Language requirement:

Fluency in English and Mandarin, both written and spoken.

Rated requirements:

Only candidates who meet the education and experience requirements will be contacted for assessment of the rated requirements. The assessment of the rated requirements below may include an interview, a written test, and other tests that will consist of a series of questions designed to evaluate each applicant's knowledge, abilities and personal suitability for the position.

            a. Knowledge:

  • PC skills - Microsoft Outlook, Explorer (internet) Word, Excel, PowerPoint;

  • Basic knowledge of Taiwan’s property (commercial and housing) market

  • Excellent computer skills including experience with word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail and presentation software

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Excellent negotiation skills

     
    b. Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in an effective manner

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure

  • Ability to carry out project plans within established deadlines

  • Good team player with the ability to cooperate and collaborate with individuals of various cultural, educational and professional backgrounds

     
    c. Personal suitability:

  • Displays initiative, professional integrity, priority setting, and sound judgement;

  • Adaptability and flexibility;

  • Strong focus on client service;

Asset requirements:

Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:

  • Fluency (written/spoken) in French and Taiwanese;

Operational requirements:

  • Must be available for occasional duties outside normal working hours (i.e., evenings and weekends).

Condition of employment (must be met):

  • Eligibility for a Government of Canada Reliability Status;

  • Must have a valid work authorization covering the employment period.
